To effectively educate means to do so with compassion and resilience. No matter how much is required, the educator finds himself or herself continually and selflessly placing the needs of others as priority. I realized this my very first day as a teacher back in 1999. Little did I know, my first year of teaching had positioned me on a path that developed my resilience to be perpetually compassionate in my role as an officer of service. The more I taught, the more I realized how vital it was for me to give selflessly and passionately.
Education is truly “an art of heart.” In this video, I begin explaining my first encounter with the heart and fortitude it takes to be an educator.
This was only the beginning. Finding heart was only the first step. When heart met art, this added another layer to my experience as an educator.
